Location:WA-Seattle Job Title: Maintenance Engineer - KIRO TV
Position Overview
The KIRO-TV Maintenance Technician candidate will be involved in the installation, troubleshooting and support of the infrastructure and systems within the broadcast facility. This role will also supplement Master Control operations. The candidate must have a passion for broadcast engineering/IT and be comfortable with current media technologies, concepts and emerging trends (i.e. Software-centric Broadcast technology, Streaming, OTT, Cloud Computing, etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of critical on-air video, audio, signal processing and transmission systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of TV broadcast and production equipment
- Provide operational support for end-users; respond to help desk tickets and calls
- Interface with third party vendors and support technicians
- Lead, execute, and complete projects as directed by management
- Cable installation and termination
- Part time and fill-in Master Control operations
- All other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in broadcasting or technically adjacent field.
- Possess strong engineering, IT/networking, and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to reimage or build up servers and desktop computers at the OS level.
- Experience with RF equipment such as broadcast transmitters and microwave equipment.
- Demonstrate excellence in documentation and system drawing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Self-starter and able to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and as a part of a team.
- Project oriented, organized and able to list previously executed projects from concept to completion.
- Demonstrate the ability to pivot and manage changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Be willing to expand knowledge of emerging broadcast industry concepts/technologies.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
KIRO-TV is a 24/7 operation, and the candidate may be required to work non-traditional shifts, weekends/holidays, and be willing to be on call and/or work extra hours as needed. Candidate should be able to lift and carry equipment as necessary. This is a position under an IBEW collective bargaining agreement.

- A degree or certifications in a technical related field, and/or equivalent experience
- AutoCAD and Visio software
- Avid & iNews, Imagine, Evertz, RTS, Ignite
- Remote access systems (LogMeIn, TeamViewer, VNC, etc.)
- Automated Production Control software
- Broadcast Automation Systems and related equipment
- Newsroom NRCS/MAM Systems
- Adobe Creative Software Products
The wage scale for this position is $32.10 per hour to $40.08 per hour.
