In this role, you will be an integral member of the Color Technology team, working with existing Benjamin Moore color technologies. The Associate Chemist will be required to work both independently and collaboratively with team members to evaluate tint bases and conduct testing on retail paint equipment.

The Associate Chemist position offers an opportunity to work in a modern color lab and play an important part in bringing color and products to our vast retailer network. The role offers opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and use project planning principles

  • Evaluate paint tint bases for tint strength and color accuracy

  • Conduct testing on mixing and dispensing equipment, report, and present results

  • Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook

  • Maintain laboratory and equipment

  • Work collaboratively on teams and cross functional projects with others in Product Development and Marketing

  • Participate in learning and capability building initiatives

  • Continuous learning of professional skills and knowledge



Qualifications

  • Self-directed and motivated to work independently and collaboratively, driving projects to completion while meeting timelines

  • Documents and reports results and observations

  • Team oriented with excellent organizational and record keeping skills

  • Attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills

  • BS in Chemistry or related science

  • 0 - 3 years of experience working with color or coatings in a laboratory environment

  • Color shading and evaluation skills a plus

  • Color acuity

  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and project planning software

  • Excellent attendance and safety record

  • Good communication skills - verbal and written

Physical Requirements
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
* Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally (e.g. files, boxes of documents).
* Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
* Visual activity required for reviewing documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
* Occasional standing, walking, and reaching within the office environment.
* Ability to travel occasionally for audits, training or compliance-related meetings as needed.
