In this role, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists to develop new and next generation coatings products and technologies. You will apply your expertise in analytical thinking, innovation, and creative problem solving to explore and validate new product chemistries. This position offers great opportunities for growth and development into senior technical or managerial roles. Reporting to a R&D Group Manager, the Scientist II job is an exciting chance to join a team that promotes and recognizes innovation. Responsibilities

- Investigate and evaluate new coatings products, technologies and competitive trends across a broad variety of industries
- Identify, explore and prove the feasibility of novel product chemistries
- Plan, develop and implement scientifically designed experiments from feasibility to commercialization
- Monitor and supervise all stages of product development, from lab to production scale-up batches
- Collaborate with product development and commercialization groups
- Collaborate with marketing on new product concepts
- Drive results to focus on delivering customer value and show a dedication to continuous improvement
- Document inventions and identify intellectual property potentials
- Collaborate with procurement to identify and evaluate new and alternative materials
- Manage, train and mentor team members
Qualifications
- Ph.D. with 0-5 years working experience in chemistry, material science or related fields; MS with 5+ years; BS with 8+ years.
- Have knowledge and expertise in coatings technologies..
- Possess strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, utilizing scientific and analytical tools in technology and product development.
- Exhibit the ability to develop and commercialize products from initial concepts.
- Highly motivated and a self-starter, capable of working independently and driving projects to completion.
- Must demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey scientific concepts and project status clearly and candidly, effectively fostering collaborative relationships at all organizational levels.
Physical Requirements * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer * Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally (e.g. files, boxes of documents) * Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents. * Visual activity required for reviewing documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens. * Occasional standing, walking, and reaching within the office environment. * Ability to travel occasionally for audits, training, or compliance-related meetings as needed.
