Position Summary

The Financial Aid Help Desk Specialist supports prospective and current students and families by providing guidance on FAFSA, MASFA, financial aid eligibility, and award interpretation. This role delivers multi-channel support, facilitates virtual workshops, and partners with Financial Aid leadership to enhance student success and engagement.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide one-on-one support via phone, text, email, and virtual meetings (respond within 1 business day).



  • Assist students with FAFSA and MASFA completion, federal/state aid questions, and affordability counseling.



  • Guide students in understanding financial aid award letters and funding options.



  • Facilitate and support virtual workshops on financial aid processes and completion.



  • Track, document, and maintain accurate records of all student interactions.



  • Prepare monthly engagement reports highlighting inquiry trends and metrics.



  • Ensure strict compliance with FERPA and institutional data privacy standards.



  • Collaborate with Financial Aid leadership on initiatives and process improvements.



  • Manage a caseload of 800+ students while maintaining high service standards.




Required Qualifications


  • 3+ years of experience in financial aid advising, help desk, enrollment services, or student support.



  • Strong knowledge of FAFSA, federal financial aid programs, and MASFA (Massachusetts state aid).



  • Experience conducting virtual sessions or group workshops.



  • Proficiency in documentation, reporting, and data accuracy.



  • Fluent in English and Spanish (Portuguese preferred).



The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
