| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Political Science resides within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Political Science is the fourth largest undergraduate major in the College with more than 800 majors, a graduate program of approximately 80 students in residence and 44 tenure/tenure-track and fixed-term faculty. The Department of Political Science at

| Position Summary |
The Frederico Gil Visiting Distinguished Research Professor responsibilities will include working on their own research and contributing to departmental activities related to their research and teaching on Latin America (but not teaching a course). |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Ph.D. in Political Science and a minimum of 5 years of research and teaching experience. Visiting research professor who studies Latin American politics. Strong preference will be given to candidates who are based in Latin America or Spain or have had extensive prior experience in Latin America. Responsibilities of the successful candidate during the semester in residence will include working on their own research and contributing to departmental activities related to their research and teaching on Latin America (but not teaching a course). The quality of currently completed research and of the proposed research project will be important selection criteria. |
