JOB SUMMARY

A Manufacturing Manager at Doble Engineering will have a strong background in Lean Manufacturing principles and exceptional communication skills to join our team. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leading daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are consistently achieved. This role drives execution to meet and exceed KPI's while maintaining high standards of operational efficiency and product quality.

The Manufacturing Manager champions continuous improvement initiatives across the operation, leveraging lean manufacturing principles and data-driven decision-making to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize processes. This leader fosters a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence throughout the production floor.

Working cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Shipping teams, the Manufacturing Manager ensures seamless coordination from production through final shipment. This role proactively identifies and resolves constraints, aligns resources to demand, and supports new product introductions and process improvements to meet customer commitments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, the ability to drive results through others, and a proven track record of meeting shipping schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role will be based in our Accident, Maryland facility and will report to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategic Leadership:



  • Develop and execute strategic manufacturing plans aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Resolve escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the production team, setting clear goals and objectives to drive operational excellence.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles throughout the organization.


Lean Manufacturing Expertise:



  • Utilize advanced Lean methodologies and tools to optimize production processes, minimize waste, and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Lead and facilitate Lean initiatives such as 5S, Kanban, value stream mapping, and Kaizen events to drive process improvements and cost savings.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and technology integration to streamline operations and improve throughput.


Team Development & Engagement:



  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of production supervisors and operators, fostering a collaborative and high performance work environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, empowering them to take ownership of process improvements and drive results.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.


Quality Assurance and Compliance:



  • Ensure adherence to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements across all manufacturing operations.
  • Implement robust quality control measures and inspection protocols to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement in product quality.


Communication and Collaboration:



  • Serve as a key liaison between manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and other departments, fostering open communication and collaboration to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on manufacturing performance, project status, and strategic initiatives.
  • Act as a change agent, effectively communicating the rationale and benefits of Lean initiatives to all levels of the organization and driving buy-in for continuous improvement efforts.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.


MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Monitor KPIs such as throughput, on-time delivery (OTD), scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and schedule attainment.
  • Remove bottlenecks and escalate constraints that threaten shipping targets.
  • Align staffing and resources to demand fluctuations.
  • Responsible for the team's productivity, development, morale, and well-being.
  • Management of the budget and overseeing day-to-day operations.
  • Administer and support Lean Process & Procedures.
  • Responsible for staffing the organization, evaluating staff, making performance and pay decisions.
  • Own daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure on-time shipment performance.
  • Manage supervisors and production personnel, drive accountability, and build a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, and results.
  • Lead lean initiatives and problem-solving efforts to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize processes.
  • Partner with Engineering, Testing, Supply Chain, and Shipping to ensure smooth workflow from production through final shipment.
  • Maintain adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and workplace safety expectations.
  • Manage labor efficiency, overtime, and operational expenses while supporting inventory and working capital objectives.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing leadership roles, with a strong emphasis on Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully implementing Lean initiatives and driving measurable improvements in operational performance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in the electrical or industrial equipment manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience with the ISO Certification process.
  • Experience with capacity and maintenance planning, manufacturing operations management.
  • Experience with process flows and production scheduling.
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management and safety policies and procedures.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • Experience in the electrical or industrial equipment manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience with the ISO Certification process.
  • Experience with capacity and maintenance planning, manufacturing operations management.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and compliance
  • Experience with process flows and production scheduling.
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management and safety policies and procedures.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
