We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Medical Dosimetrist to join our collaborative team of eight at the VCU Health Adult Outpatient Pavilion. This leadership position is pivotal in the clinical implementation of our new Varian Ethos therapy system, specializing in both standard and adaptive radiotherapy workflows. Working in close coordination with the Chief Dosimetrist, the Lead will drive the adoption of this cutting-edge technology while maintaining a standard of excellence across a high-volume, diverse case load.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Technology Leadership: Spearhead the clinical integration of the Varian Ethos platform, developing departmental protocols for adaptive planning.
* Comprehensive Treatment Planning: Design and optimize complex plans across all treatment sites, including 2D/3D, VMAT, SBRT/SRS (Body/Brain), TBI and TBE.
* Collaborative Oversight: Partner with Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and radiation therapists to ensure precision in dose distribution and patient safety.
* Mentorship & Training: Provide technical guidance to staff dosimetrists and assist in the onboarding of new technologies; prior Ethos experience is a plus, but comprehensive training will be provided. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current CMD
Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of four (4) years of full-time dosimetry experience to include IMRT, stereotactic or brachytherapy planning
Experience PREFERRED: N/A
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Science (e.g. chemistry, biophysics, dosimetry, radiation therapy, radiologic science or other physical science)
Education/training PREFERRED:
Master's Degree in Dosimetry from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program
Independent action(s) required:
Actions carried out by Senior Dosimetrists without prior approval include routine computer and simple calculations for radiotherapy treatment planning, image acquisition, consultation, and treatment aid device fabrication and dose measurements with thermo luminescent dosimeters.
Supervisory advice and guidance are given for any non-routine or complex treatment planning and/or calibration.
