Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement and Support, the Program Director manages the day-to-day operations of the Center, designs and facilitates educational programming and trainings for students, staff, and faculty, and serves as a liaison between students in need of support and various resources within the university and the Chicagoland community.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support day-day-to-day operations of the Center.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current state/national and local policies impacting undocumented and mixed-status students.
  • Develop and facilitate trainings across campus with students, faculty and staff, in addition to with partnering organizations and schools, reflecting current policies and procedures.
  • Travel to meet with students directly impacted to provide resources and support.
  • Coordinate with legal service providers and community-based organizations to support students/families with detention and deportation needs.
  • Design, promote, and direct community organizing and advocacy campaigns for the university and in partnership with external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and necessary resources within the university and in the community at large.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. A total of three (3) years (36 months) demonstrated experience working in support of undocumented and mixed-status individuals within higher education. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
  3. Deep knowledge of current legislature, policies, and regulations affecting undocumented and mixed-status individuals within Illinois.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with service providers, organizations, schools, and community groups within the Chicagoland area and greater Illinois that directly support immigrant communities.
