What to Expect
The Training Coordinator for the Body in White (BIW) department plays a critical role in developing and delivering training programs to ensure team members are skilled, safe, and efficient in body assembly processes. BIW encompasses the welding, stamping, and assembly of megapack body structures prior to painting. This position focuses on enhancing workforce capabilities to meet production goals, maintain quality standards, and comply with industry regulations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to BIW production operations and shop readiness skills including shop specific safety modules, H.M.I training, industry specific tools, In-bound and out-bound material handling, and lean manufacturing principles. Conduct hands-on training sessions, simulations, and e-learning modules for new hires, existing employees, and cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with BIW Leadership and support teams to identify training gaps through performance audits and feedback sessions. Analyze production metrics and incident reports to prioritize training initiatives that improve safety, productivity, and defect reduction
  • Lead orientation programs for new team members, ensuring they understand BIW-specific safety protocols, equipment handling (e.g., MIG/TIG welding, and jig fixtures), and company policies. Facilitate ongoing skill-building workshops to keep pace with technological advancements
  • Ensure all training aligns with industry standards (e.g. ISO 14001) and regulatory requirements from OSHA, and local safety authorities. Track certifications for welding operators, forklift operators, and hazardous material handling, and coordinate refresher courses as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance, completion rates, and effectiveness using learning management systems (LMS). Prepare reports on training outcomes, ROI, and recommendations for process improvements, presenting findings to leadership teams
  • Manage training materials, schedules, and facilities, including coordinating with external vendors for specialized equipment or guest instructors. Budget for training resources and ensure cost-effective program execution
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning by organizing team-building activities, safety drills, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Provide coaching and feedback to trainees to foster skill development and motivation

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Engineering, or related fields or equivalent experience; equivalent manufacturing training experience considered. Certification (e.g., CPLP) is a plus
  • 3-5 years in training coordination, preferably in automotive manufacturing or high-volume production environments
  • Familiarity with BIW processes (sheet metal forming, spot welding, assembly) and safety standards, along with BIW-specific tools/technologies
  • Proven skills in adult learning strategies, instructional design, and curriculum development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, learning management systems (e.g., Moodle), and data analysis tools for tracking training metrics
  • Willingness to work extended hours, shift rotations, and perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting 50 lbs., standing long periods) in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deliver clear instructions in multicultural, team-oriented settings
