Georgia-Pacific is seeking a motivated and committed Environmental Coordinator to join our team at the Sweetwater Gypsum Complex. This role is ideal for individuals with a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, or Natural Sciences who are keen to advance their careers in the environmental field. What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of gypsum processes and their impact on environmental performance which allows the facility to enable our operations teams to meet their environmental obligations.
  • Assist in administration of Federal (EPA), State (TCEQ) and local environmental program requirements, including but not limited to air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste, SARA, EPCRA, FCC, and DOT.
  • Assist in reading and interpreting permits to ensure operational compliance.
  • Analyze incident and compliance trends data and work with operating departments.
  • Participate in incident investigation, mitigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership and staff to implement an effective environmental management system.
  • Contribute to advancing environmental stewardship initiatives at the facility.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge share with other GP Building Product facilities' environmental teams.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Engineering, or Natural Sciences (such as Chemistry or Biology).

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Familiarity with SPCC, stormwater, and air compliance processes.
  • Experience in environmental program management.
  • Skills in developing and improving management systems.
