Overview

The US Public Finance & Solutions business operates within the US Rates franchise of the broader Rates/Fixed Income and Currencies (FIC) business at Deutsche Bank; it is a business comprised of origination, structuring, financing, and trading activities. We are seeking a proven Senior Originator to grow our affordable housing platform by sourcing, structuring, and closing high quality transactions-primarily LIHTC driven developments using tax exempt bonds. You will be responsible for independently sourcing, structuring, and managing the underwriting and diligence of transactions. You will build and expand a high-quality pipeline of affordable housing debt opportunities focused on tax-exempt bond transactions or bridge lending which will lead to tax-exempt bond exits. The individual will lead the transaction from origination through execution including structuring, overseeing credit underwriting, credit approval, legal documentation, and ultimate transaction execution. Given the size of the team, it is an extremely interactive role where you will be empowered to work both as part of a team but also with clearly defined responsibilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in an exciting and diverse market while learning about an array of financial instruments under the guidance of a very experienced origination/structuring team.

What We Offer You

What You'll Do

  • Originate a robust pipeline of affordable housing debt
  • Lead deal strategy and structuring end to end: terms, covenants, collateral, intercreditor mechanics, craft and negotiate term sheets
  • Own credit fundamentals (LTV, DSCR, operating pro forma, stress cases) and champion sound underwriting assumptions throughout diligence and credit approval
  • Execute tax exempt private placement bond transactions (construction and perm), coordinating borrower, issuer, trustee, and bond counsel
  • Drive credit memo preparation and credit presentations, articulating risks, mitigants, and market comps; ensure transparent escalation of key issues
  • Partner cross functionally with Underwriting, Portfolio/Asset Management, Legal/Closing, Desk, and Servicing to deliver on time, no surprises closings

How You'll Lead

  • Mentor junior team members on origination best practices and structuring as production scales
  • Represent the platform at industry events, panels, and HFA outreach to expand brand visibility and origination coverage
  • Ensure on-going communication on all aspects of the loan process with key stakeholders

Skills You'll Need

  • 7-10+ years in affordable housing financed focused on originations with a consistent record of closed transactions
  • Ability to take ownership for loan transactions and manage workload with minimal supervision
  • Thorough product knowledge of Affordable Housing and LIHTC financing; significant experience structuring tax-exempt financing
  • Credit/investment analysis proficiency (development budgets, sources/uses, lease up/operating pro formas, guarantor analysis, sensitivity cases) and strong memo writing

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
