Description

The Sr. Manager, Data Architect role manages and provides leadership in the architecture and engineering execution of enterprise data platforms and solutions. This position leads a team to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable data systems aligned with established enterprise standards. The role translates business requirements into executable technical designs, ensures adherence to governance and security requirements, and drives operational excellence across assigned data domains.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage the implementation of end-to end-data architecture solutions across ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, and consumption layers in alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Manage and oversee the engineering of robust data pipelines using modern frameworks and orchestration tools, ensuring performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Apply and maintain canonical data models, integration patterns, and architectural standards for assigned domains.
  • Ensure data governance, quality, lineage, privacy, and access controls are embedded by design in collaboration with security and governance teams.
  • Review and approve technical designs, code, and implementation approaches within delegated authority.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical or operational data issues, driving resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Establish and monitor technical expectations and ensure consistent engineering quality across teams
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including security, privacy and governance teams to ensure
  • Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of engagement, growth, and accountability.
  • Oversee workload planning, performance management, and team operations to align resources with business objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.


Skills and Competencies:



  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage individual contributors and first-level managers.
  • Strong data architecture and data engineering expertise within defined enterprise frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, distributed processing, and modern data integration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, and quality practices.
  • Effective decision-making skills based on unit objectives and allocated resources.
  • Advanced communication skills to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong expertise in cloud data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, or Fabric).
  • Advanced knowledge of:

    • Data warehousing and Lakehouse architectures
    • Distributed processing (e.g., Spark or equivalent)
    • Streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka or similar)
    • SQL and data modeling


  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, data quality, and security principles.
  • Excellent architectural judgment and ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability.
  • Strategic thinker with strong systems-level perspective.
  • Ability to be decisive and collaborative architectural leader.
  • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries.


Experience:



  • Typically, a minimum of 10 years related work experience in data architecture, or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering and operating large-scale data platforms in cloud environments.
  • Prior experience leading teams and managing technical delivery.
  • Experienced with data warehousing/lakehouse architectures, streaming platforms, and distributed processing frameworks
  • Hands-on coding experience in one or more languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices.


Education:



  • A degree in data architecture, computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent experience is required.


Salary Range:

The salary pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary: $160,000 - $220,000
