Job Summary

The Director Accounting & Reporting is responsible for overseeing the financial close process, including designing and providing timely and accurate accounting information and reports in accordance with US GAAP and SOX compliant. The purpose of the job is to provide financial accounting and reports to make sure that management can monitor financial performance and is able to meet their financial goals and targets. He/she is working closely together with VP Business Control and Integration, Financial Controllers, Regional Controllers, Internal Audit, Tax, Treasury and Corporate and BU Finance Staff.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for application of appropriate accounting in accordance with Darling Accounting Policy and US GAAP, necessary to produce accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Communicate and guide Finance & Accounting teams of the regions and plants
  • Manage (day-to-day) financial accounting and reporting and ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement financial strategies that align with management/company's goals
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management
  • Critically analyze information and translate it in useful advice, improvement proposals and conclusions for management
  • Responsible for coordinating and performing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial closings
  • Review periodic financial information and monitor performance of the various plants/regions
  • Responsible for consolidation of the Business Unit, including (intercompany profit) eliminations and reclasses for consolidation purposes
  • Responsible for the coordination of external audits and liaise with auditors
  • Be the liaison for the Darling Corporate Accounting team
  • Prepare quarterly information for disclosure as part of the Darling 10Q and 10K reporting
  • Preparation of the monthly Darling Management presentations and quarterly Darling Board presentations
  • Documentation of non-routine financial transactions and complex accounting matters
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual SOX controls
  • Responsible for management fee & royalty calculation and invoicing to the entities within the Business Unit and Darling, in accordance with Transfer Pricing Policies
  • Perform variance analysis vs budget/prior year/forecast
  • Support and prepare for the integration of the JV with PB Leiner and potential separation of the company
  • Provide data and reporting on an ad-hoc and/or requested basis
  • Adhere to company policies and processes (including change control, security, corporate policies and/or US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley 404).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • 5 to 10 years of professional finance, accounting or budgeting and forecasting experience.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Master's degree or CPA a plus
  • Proficient knowledge and thorough understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm and/or international company
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Longview, Power Point and Excel.
