GENERAL FUNCTION

The Category Lead - Indirect Procurement supports sourcing and procurement activities across designated indirect spend categories. This role focuses primarily on smaller and midsized categories that require strong analytical rigor, cost modeling, and data-driven decision making. The Category Lead partners with internal stakeholders to manage supplier relationships, optimize cost and service levels, and ensure consistent execution of category strategies across the enterprise.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Execute sourcing initiatives including RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for smaller categories with opportunities for efficiency and cost improvement.
  • Conduct detailed financial and Excel-based analyses to support recommendations, including TCO models, bid comparisons, and scenario modeling.
  • Support and lead cross-functional project teams on category initiatives, supplier transitions, and cost optimization projects.
  • Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs and analytics; drive corrective action and performance improvement where needed.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining category strategies aligned with business needs and spending levels.
  • Identify opportunities for spend consolidation, process simplification, and improved purchasing compliance.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, gather specifications, and provide procurement insights.
  • Monitor category trends, spend patterns, and budget alignment; prepare quarterly reporting on savings, performance, and project status.
  • Support contract development and negotiation in collaboration with Legal and internal business owners.
  • Ensure timely procurement of goods and services from approved suppliers while maintaining compliance with sourcing policies.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and category data for reporting, analytics, and performance tracking.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in procurement processes, tools, templates, and systems.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3years of relevant business experience
  • 1-3+ years in procurement or buying roles, preferably indirect procurement
  • Strong analytical capabilities with demonstrated proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, modeling, data cleaning)
  • Understanding standard procurement practices, sourcing methodologies, and contract basics
  • Experience running competitive bid events (RFI/RFQ/RFP)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required, PowerPoint and Word strong plus)
  • Strong problem-solving, data interpretation, and critical-thinking skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Experience with procurement systems or esourcing platforms, preferably Ariba or SAP
  • Exposure to category management principles in indirect categories
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, or financial analysis.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with interest in process automation or digital tools
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Pay Range:95,344.80-132,758.80
