Description and Requirements

Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group (IDG) Commercial Software Product Management team is seeking a motivated intern to support competitive research on OEMpreloaded commercial software, explore Lenovo's current and beta software experiences, and contribute insights that help guide future product thinking. This project includes assisting with research on competitive applications, helping benchmark Lenovo's solutions, and supporting the team in identifying general areas for improvement across the commercial software portfolio.

You will collaborate with a crossfunctional group of product managers, marketing managers, software engineers and developers, user experience professionals, and project managers to contribute to competitive analysis activities, beta testing efforts, and early exploration work that supports future commercial software offerings.

The ideal candidate is curious, proactive, and eager to learn. They should feel comfortable working independently, navigating ambiguity in a fastmoving environment, and communicating clearly with teammates. While independence is important, the intern will receive ongoing support, guidance, and mentorship throughout the program.

Responsibilities

  • Support research into OEMpreloaded software from commercial PC competitors, documenting feature sets, usability, and general user experience patterns.
  • Assist with benchmarking Lenovo's current and beta software experiences to help the team understand differences in functionality and user flows.
  • Summarize findings into clear, easytounderstand insights that contribute to ongoing portfolio discussions.
  • Participate in handson beta testing across multiple platforms, helping validate new features, surface issues, and assess usability.
  • Document observations, potential issues, and general improvement areas for review by product and engineering teams.
  • Help compare competitive insights with Lenovo's software portfolio to highlight opportunities for refinement or enhancement.
  • Contribute suggestions based on data, usability, and competitive findings that help the team consider future experience improvements.
  • Support ongoing AIrelated product exploration by assisting with research and software usecase evaluations.
  • Review endtoend user journeys to help identify areas where the experience can be clearer or more userfriendly.
  • Assist in identifying potential UX improvements that may enhance customer satisfaction and engagement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in engineering, computer science, marketing, business, or a related field
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot) for research and productivity
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compare product experiences and summarize key differences
  • Basic familiarity with Windows software and commercial PC environments
  • Ability to conduct structured research and communicate clearly
  • Curiosity about the PC industry, competitive landscape, and commercial software experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to beta testing, usability evaluation, or UXrelated coursework/projects
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, OEM preload software, or commercial PC ecosystems
  • Interest in AIenhanced PC experiences
  • Experience with:
    • basic usability or A/B testing methods
    • competitive comparison techniques (e.g., simple matrices or SWOT)
    • documentation and productivity tools (PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote)
    • MacOS and Apple software ecosystems
  • Ability to apply creative exploration techniques (vibe coding) and AI orchestration practices (Model Context Protocols, agent workflows) to investigate user needs, trends, and product opportunities.
  • Prior internship or project experience in product management or software development
  • Comfortable asking questions and seeking clarity when needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • Creativity and adaptability in approaching new challenges
