Medical coding in an acute care setting is required. Candidates must possess proficient computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, ICD 9 CM, CPT 4, and Encoder. A strong understanding of coding guidelines, payor guidelines, and federal billing guidelines is essential. Additionally, knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes is required. The ability to research coding-related issues and competence in coder training is necessary. Candidates must have CCS certification and be knowledgeable with the 3M/HDS coding application.
