We are seeking a professional to review purchase requests and coordinate with departments on specifications, delivery, and quality. The role involves ensuring compliance with GPO contracts and utilizing GPO tools for pricing and product information.



  • Place orders via EDI or directly with vendors.
  • Review price increases; report issues and updates to Materials Management.
  • Solicit quotes for non-GPO items, perform pricing analysis, and negotiate.
  • Analyze group purchasing contracts for potential savings.
  • Evaluate vendors based on product specifications, pricing, and delivery.
  • Expedite back-orders and work with departments to approve substitutions.
  • Focus on cost savings, standardization, and inventory optimization.
  • Provide strong customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Process orders within 24 hours of requisition.
  • Support product evaluations with market research and cost analysis.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to maintain accurate pricing and item data.
  • Identify process improvements to support efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Perform other assigned duties and projects.
  • Adhere to HMH standards and professional conduct.


Education Requirement

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • 3 years of purchasing experience, including issuing POs and evaluating suppliers.
  • Experience with automated systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Drive.


Schedule Notes

Core Hours: 7:30 PM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Hybrid - may be expected to report onsite as needed. Minimum 3 or more years of experience in the Purchasing Department.
