ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Consultants play an integral role in the design process, partnering alongside architects, clinicians, strategists, and designers to transform client visions to reality through a design-centric approach. The ideal Consultant will possess the ability to solve critical problems by utilizing their unique skillsets in strategic facilities master planning, functional/space programming, as well as knowledge of lean/operations improvement.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Demonstrate proficiency in clinical lab processes across medical campuses, including major inpatient and outpatient departments.
  • Work with clients and end users to outline optimized process flows and critical adjacencies of clinical spaces.
  • Understand and guide discussions on medical equipment and technology needs.
  • Supports the healthcare planning process with clients and the design team to create strategic campus master plans and departmental level master plans.
  • Supports healthcare planning processes in collaboration with the design team to create operational workflows and functional space programs, along with department floor plan concepts reflective of operations.
  • Creates baseline and future clinical service plans that illustrate program design concepts to inform Master Programming and Master Planning in line with future facility goals.
  • Contributes to estimating overarching program and service resource requirements (e.g., core clinical laboratory specimen processing capacity, microbiology and hematology bench space, anatomic pathology grossing and histology stations, point-of-care testing bays, equipment allocations for analyzers and automation lines, clean/dirty circulation pathways, etc.) by applying best practices and utilization benchmarks.
  • Supports coordination of contracted deliverables to align with the overall project delivery schedule.
  • Communicates healthcare expertise and planning concepts to clients and project teams, both verbally and through graphic and written reports.
  • Develops space programs, workflows, and strategic plans under the guidance of the Project Lead.
  • Actively seeks new knowledge in the design and planning of medical and healthcare facilities.
  • Actively participates in industry associations to ensure visibility.
  • Mentor staff for depth and support of the specialized knowledge execution process.
  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service including business development and sourcing new work.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • A Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or other applicable field required. Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Board certification and/or licensure in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working within the healthcare-built environment for at least 5 years is required.
  • Experience in large healthcare systems with a significant research/academic component is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working knowledge of Clinical Laboratory operations experience is required.
  • Foundational knowledge of Clinical Laboratory equipment, regulatory requirements, and analytical methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical workflows, healthcare delivery systems, current trends, and national and regional benchmarks required.
  • Experience documenting meeting minutes and capturing stakeholder input.
  • Familiarity with healthcare planning tools, trends, evidence-based design, and FGI Guidelines
  • Experience with organizing and conducting clinical end-user meetings.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Significant travel required.

The salary range for this position is $71,200 to $89,000 annually. This is the anticipated salary range at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level of selected candidate. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage as well as flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances.
