Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our Launch Infrastructure Development Team. In this role, you will serve as the technical lead for all structural engineering aspects of launch pad construction, providing specialized expertise in structural systems implementation, analysis, and quality verification. You will work closely with construction superintendents, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure structural components meet Blue Origin's exacting standards for safety, quality, and performance in this mission-critical aerospace facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Launch Site Engineering Support: Serve as the on-site structural technical authority during the fabrication, construction, and commissioning of launch pad facilities and ancillary infrastructure.
• Means & Methods Review: Technical screening and engineering acceptance of contractor temporary works, including engineered shoring plans, critical heavy crane lift plans, and excavation sequencing to protect owner assets without assuming contractor liability.
• Extreme Load Verification: Perform field observations and inspections of critical elements designed for extreme conditions, including blast overpressure, acoustics, thermal shock, and heavy vibration.
• Real-Time Field Resolution: Resolve design, fabrication, and construction conflicts in the field in real-time to maintain aggressive launch activation timelines.
• Large Steel & Concrete Systems: Oversee critical installations of heavy structural steel (e.g., integration towers, transporter-erectors) and massive reinforced concrete foundations.
• Contractor & Subcontractor Management: Coordinate engineering compliance across multiple disciplines, working closely with construction superintendents and external general contractors.
• Field Modifications: Conduct structural calculations and use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to verify the safety of field modifications or structural retrofits on existing launch facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience: 8 to 10+ years of structural engineering experience, including 5+ years managing heavy industrial or critical infrastructure construction in the field.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong background in AISC (steel) and ACI (concrete) design codes, heavy bolted/welded connections, and deep foundation systems.
• Compliance & Security: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident (Green Card holder), or otherwise compliant with ITAR/EAR aerospace security controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Structural Engineer (SE) license or state-specific licensure (e.g., Florida PE for Cape Canaveral sites) highly preferred.
• Preferred Industries: Direct field experience with heavy structural steel towers or high-consequence facilities in Aerospace (rocket launch pads, engine test stands), Oil & Gas (offshore rigs, derrick/flare towers), Petrochemical/Refining, Wind/Renewable Energy (turbine towers, offshore jackets), Mining (headframes), or Heavy Civil/Maritime Infrastructure (bridge pylons, port crane structures).
• Advanced Analysis: Master's degree in Structural Engineering and proficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) software for fast-paced field calculations.
• Specialized Infrastructure Experience: Expertise in structural retrofitting, modifying existing launch assets, and working with cryogenic or high-pressure gas facility interfaces.
