Overview

About the Role:

Our Supplier Quality Center of Excellence team, along with the growing BI community, is focused on modernizing data deliverables and optimizing products to support business expansion and productivity. We are seeking a versatile Data Modeler & BI Developer to join our Supplier Quality organization at Electric Boat. The ideal candidate will champion data analytics principles, deliver reliable solutions, and help grow the BI community through collaboration and mentorship.

Responsibilities

This role combines technical expertise in Power BI modeling and visualization with strong customer engagement and project management skills. A typical day includes designing, developing, and maintaining data models and dashboards that enable critical analytics, reporting, and decision-making for our organization. Strong collaboration with quality engineers, inspection, audit teams, leadership and business stakeholders ensure that data and BI produces are structured for efficiency, scalability and reliability. From requirements gathering and validation to final delivery, you will ensure solutions meet customer needs and drive a culture of data-driven management and continuous improvement.

Duties Include

    Power BI Development: Build and maintain both tabular models and interactive dashboards using Power BI Online. Write, optimize, and maintain advanced DAX calculations for performance and usability.
  • Customer Engagement: Lead discussions to establish clear requirements, maintain communication throughout development, and validate deliverables with stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and documentation for BI initiatives.
  • Data Modeling: Apply dimensional modeling principles (facts, dimensions, star schema, snowflake schema, conformed dimensions). Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy across reporting layers.
  • ETL Processes: Understand data extraction, transformation, and loading for analytics infrastructure. Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Governance: Ensure models are scalable, documented, and compliant with EB BI Hub guidelines and data governance standards (Security, Permissions, Version Control, etc.)
  • Automation and Innovation: Create processes that enhance Supplier Quality data analytics capabilities. Support evaluation and implementation of new technology solutions, including RPA and AI.
  • BI Stewardship: Coach customers and team members on operationalizing BI products to support business metrics. Sharing lessons learned and supporting Power BI dashboard developers within the Supplier Quality organization.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide data-driven insights and support root cause investigations as needed.


Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency
  • 3+ years of experience with Power BI
  • 1+ years of experience as a Data Modeler or Data Architect, using data modeling software (i.e. PBIO, Visual Studio, MS SQL Server, SSMS, Alteryx)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Experienced skillset with Project management, requirements gathering and validation

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Solid understanding of data transformation tools (Power Query, SQL Server, or similar).
  • Experience and familiarity with: DAX, M Code, SQL, or other coding languages; SQL Developer or other database tools; JIRA, GitHub and Visual Studio for source control and solution management; UiPath, RPA and AI applications and solutions
  • Exposure to ETL processes and data warehouse concepts

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Advanced education, licenses and/or certifications in data analytics, visualization, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling best practices
  • Experience building and optimizing tabular models
  • Proven ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
