Position Highlights The Department of Intelligence Operations (IO) at the University of Arizona, designated by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as an intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence, is seeking up to 5 Limited Term Adjunct Instructors who will teach undergraduate courses within our Intelligence and Information Operation program for fall 2026 and spring 2027 semesters. These positions will be taught online or in person at the University of Arizona's main campus in Tucson, AZ.

Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws, and your position title would be "Part-Time Faculty" instead of "Limited Term Adjunct" in accordance with university practices. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined. Based on the duration of the assignment, an hourly rate would be $50.00 for a 7-week term or $107.14 for a 15-week term.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses.
  • Teaching responsibilities include traditional course delivery, independent studies, as well as creation and revision of course content.
  • Prepare and deliver course lectures/workshops.
  • Prepare course syllabi, assignments, and activities.
  • Critique and grade student assignments and examinations.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Limited Term Adjunct Instructors may be required to attend meetings and submit materials as requested throughout the term of appointment.

  • Professional level proficiency in one or more content areas.
  • Teaching and presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to support a variety of student backgrounds.
  • A genuine interest in student success.
  • Communication skills (presentation, interpersonal, written).
  • Willing to mentor willing students to achieve academically.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Intelligence Operations, Intelligence Studies, Strategic Studies, International Relations, Information Operations, or closely related field., AND:
    • Completion of 18 graduate credit hours in a relevant discipline; OR
    • Significant demonstrable technical experience (15 or more years of experience in Intelligence and/or Information Operations); OR
    • Significant publications reflective of technical expertise in the field of Intelligence and/or Information Operations; OR
    • Current Intelligence/Strategic Studies or Information Operations doctoral student with departmental recommendation; OR
    • An equivalent combination of bachelor's degrees, graduate-level education, technical experience, teaching experience, significant publications, and/or practical experience that will bring value to the students' learning experience.
  • Specific and demonstrable experience in one or more of the following content areas: SIGINT; HUMINT; GEOINT; MASINT; OSINT; ISR SYNC; Intelligence Analysis; Electronic Warfare; Information Operations/Information Warfare; Deception, Counter-Deception, and Counter-Intelligence; and related areas.
Preferred Qualifications * Masters, Ph.D. or D.Sc. in Intelligence Operations, Intelligence Studies, Strategic Studies, International Relations, Information Operations, or closely related field.

* Previous online teaching experience.

* Track record of 10+ years of intelligence operational experience.

* Experience with Signals Intelligence and/or Electronic Warfare.

* A Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred but not required.


* Industry or academic experience.
