Summary

The Senior Payroll Analyst will help administer the payment and reporting of wages, including taxes and other deductions, maintenance of time & attendance records, and paid time off balances in accordance with organizational policies, collective bargaining agreements and governmental regulations.They will process changes to employee master records in ADP, calculate special payments, reconcile payroll registers, process 3rd party payments, and distribute various reports and checks to both employees and sites.



This person will also be responsible for creating report parameters in ADP, running reports, analyzing data and troubleshooting any discrepancies.



Experience with automated payroll systems is required, ADP experience is preferred. Windows and MS Office capability is required.

Responsibilities

  • Upgrade and maintenance of the payroll in-house databases.
  • Work closely with both management and the payroll representatives to identify and address the changing needs of the department.
  • Formulate recommendations for improvement and implement changes into the system, analyzing the post implementation results.
  • Inform payroll staff of easier, quicker, and more accurate methods of processing available for their use.
  • Lead the creation of multiple data files in ADP and the process of transferring the information to the databases.
  • Create macros in Excel and train staff in their use for the weekly import of information.
  • Responsible for the integrity of data by performing post import reconciliation of all data to ensure accurate reporting for management's use.
  • Import of the IDOC from SAP to ADP.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of current payroll compliance procedures and laws.
  • Strong Accounting knowledge.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets,
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess keen analytic skills.
  • Strong ability to multitask and plan for strict deadlines.
  • Keen trouble-shooting and analytical abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of automated payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NYPA and Canal policies and Union contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP.
  • Strong knowledge of ADP Vantage


Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Associate's Degree in a business relevant field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, or Finance is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of business-related payroll experience.

Physical Requirements

Limited travel (about 10%) required primarily to our generating facilities.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
