Summary:

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Talent Management is a highly strategic leader accountable for shaping and executing the organization's enterprise-wide talent. This role will drive initiatives that strengthen leadership pipelines, evolve performance management, embed skills-based practices, and foster career development and mentoring programs. The AVP partners closely with senior executives, HR business partners, and business leaders to ensure talent strategies align with organizational priorities, culture, and future workforce needs.

Responsibilities:

Enterprise Talent Strategy & Planning

  • Define and execute a comprehensive talent management strategy aligned with business goals and cultural priorities.
  • Integrate talent frameworks into leadership development, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Advise executives on talent implications for long-range planning and enterprise priorities.

Performance Management

  • Lead the evolution of performance management practices to strengthen alignment, accountability, and growth.
  • Oversee goal-setting frameworks, performance calibration, and feedback systems that enhance organizational performance.

Skills-Based & Career Development Frameworks

  • Implement a skills-based talent model that supports workforce agility, mobility, and development.
  • Partner with Learning & Development to align skills frameworks with competency-based learning pathways and career progression models.

Mentoring & Employee Growth

  • Develop and oversee enterprise-wide mentoring programs that foster engagement, development, and career progression.
  • Ensure mentoring initiatives align with succession strategies and measure impact on engagement and retention.

Talent & Succession Planning

  • Build robust leadership pipelines through effective talent reviews and succession planning for critical roles.
  • Equip leaders with insights to make confident succession and development decisions.

Data, Insights & Executive Advisory

  • Leverage analytics, AI, and talent metrics to inform executive decision-making and track progress on key initiatives.
  • Provide actionable workforce insights that shape enterprise strategy and planning.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Modernize talent management programs using external benchmarks, emerging trends, and technology.
  • Drive change agility and continuous improvement across all talent practices.

Operational Leadership

  • Establish clear governance, structures, and workflows to ensure talent programs run efficiently and predictably.
  • Build and lead a high-performing Talent Management Center of Excellence (COE) grounded in clarity, collaboration, and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree preferred; advanced degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field preferred.
  • 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in Talent Management, Organizational Development, or HR within a complex, matrixed enterprise.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with proven ability to lead transformation, and deep expertise in modernizing talent management practices within complex, matrixed environments.
  • Proven success designing and implementing enterprise-wide talent and succession strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner effectively at the highest levels.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data and analytics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Expertise in leading through change and building organizational capability.
  • Advanced skills in strategic thinking, executive consulting, operational leadership, and team development.

This is an office based role with an expectation of three days per week on site (Irving, TX, Chicago, IL)

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
