ABOUT THE PARKS OF JEFFERSON COUNTY Jefferson County is home to 22 county owned parks and several trails, spread-out through the County's 373,000 acres, for the public to enjoy as our Parks Department strives to preserve natural resources for public use and conservation. The Parks department operates and maintains a parks system with resource-oriented recreation, trails, and special use parks. They also expand the parks system for environmental and land use benefits, as well as, for the health and enjoyment of Jefferson County residents and others. The program is currently hiring a summer intern to assist the Parks Department. WHAT YOU WILL DO The intern will support the creation of a public-facing Story Map of Jefferson County's Historic Sites by entering, validating, and organizing data into spreadsheets and GIS databases. The goal of the project is to compile and visualize historical resources that highlight the county's cultural, architectural, industrial, and agricultural histories into a publicly accessible story map for educational and recreational purposes.
