Bio-Rad is looking for an enthusiastic Electronics Technician to support its global organization. You will be part of the innovative Electrical Engineering Team developing complex solutions for cutting edge life science instrument systems. We need a proven electronics technician who gets excited about pushing the boundaries of medical diagnostics, is highly analytical, and sees the big picture needed to launch and sustain lead-edge instruments. Role will support both Hercules and Pleasanton Facities.

You will report to a senior Electrical Engineering manager and be part of a larger multi-disciplinary R&D team. Come join us and be a key player in our next innovative instrument. You will work with a diverse engineering team on new product development. This work will span from the research stage through product launch and on-market support. At our Hercules headquarters, you will be in the heart of the action with access to a well equipped electronics lab, an EMC chamber for pre-testing instruments, and easy access to on-site manufacturing teams.

How You'll Make An Impact:



  • Support electrical engineering development and sustaining activities including kitting boards, building cables, overseeing electronics labs, maintaining equipment calibration, and supporting the assembly, modification, and test of complex electro-mechanical research instruments
  • Support the kitting, troubleshooting and test of boards, the building of cables, and the testing of R&D prototypes during the product lifecycle from engineering development to on-market support (sustaining).
  • Support transfer of development instruments to manufacturing including troubleshooting guides
  • Support preliminary EMC testing and related changes for system development and sustaining
  • Support Reliability, Verification and Validation Testing


What You Bring:



  • Education: Associate's degree or demonstrated expertise in an engineering environment (Electronics or Electrical Engineering preferred)
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise with precision soldering, crimping, electronics rework, and electrical test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with engineers to perform electrical troubleshooting and test from the board level to the systems level, leading to the identification of root cause and corrective actions
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Preferred: Experience working in a regulated environment
  • Preferred: Skill in physical prototyping, proficiency with hand tools, and precision measurement
  • Bonus: Conventional machining experience with CNC experience preferred
  • Bonus: Experience with spectrum analyzers and EMC testing


Location: This position must be based in Hercules, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,600 to $110,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
