Job Purpose
This Senior Project Manager, Electricity Capital Project Delivery, will primarily be responsible for supporting, tracking, and reporting headcount on the NY Electric Program.
Key Accountabilities
- Directly supporting, monitoring, and reporting on the NY Electric headcount.
- Own the end-to-end tracking of the NY Electric hiring plan. This includes maintaining staffing forecasts, actual headcount, and variance analysis; to clearly communicate status to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with hiring managers, human resources, talent acquisition and finance to collect staffing plans, onboarding/offboarding timelines, contractor vs. employee mix, and required skills; ensure data accuracy and timely updates across various systems.
- Develop and maintain regular reports (monthly/quarterly) with metrics such as forecast accuracy, resource utilization, vacancy rates, and potential headcount risks; translate data into actionable insights for decision-makers.
- Proactively identify resource risks and develop mitigation plans (rebalancing scope, hiring requests, training programs, or re-sequencing work); monitor and report on the effectiveness of these mitigations.
- Participate in headcount data quality and governance, ensuring reconciliations across HRIS, project management tools, and financial systems; drive continuous process improvements and standardization of FTE reporting.
- Lead capacity planning and scenario modelling to support decisions on scope, schedule, and budget; present scenarios with recommendations to leadership
- Process Analysis: Evaluate current organizational processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
- Change Management: Facilitate change management efforts by communicating proposed improvements, obtaining buy-in from stakeholders, and ensuring successful implementation.
- Build and sustain cross-functional relationships to ensure hiring plan is effectively managed.
- Engage stakeholders and have effective collaboration and partnership capabilities.
- Excellent written/oral communication skills, follow-up, and negotiation skills.
- Good project management skills.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience within Project Management, Financial Reporting, Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
- A Bachelor's degree is required in business/finance/accounting/engineering and significant relevant experience.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; organized, detail oriented, able to make independent decisions with a high degree of confidence.
- Understands policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working (e.g. taking action to avoid future crisis or create opportunities to improve existing practices.)
- Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
- Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. both external and internal).
- Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps.
- Understanding of the operations of the electric business or the strong desire to learn.
- Effectively communicates to those impacted by a decision about the situation and clearly explains the rationale behind the decision.
- Exhibit high personal standards of commitment and integrity.
- Valid driver's license required.
Salary $105,000 - $124,000 a year National Grid utilizes an assessment that evaluates the job qualifications/characteristics using AI or statistically based scoring. For more information, please view NYC Local Law 144. This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
