Operating Room Core Specialist

University of Vermont Medical Center
$22.93 - $33.44 / hr
United States, Vermont, Burlington
Feb 03, 2026

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Operating Room Core Specialist is a key operational partner in keeping the OR running smoothly and predictably throughout the day. This role directly supports surgical teams by ensuring case carts are accurately built, supplies are readily available, and rooms can turn over efficiently without unnecessary delays.

OR Core Specialists prepare surgical cases using surgeon preference cards, manage the timely return of unused supplies and instruments to the BlueBin inventory system, and work closely with the inventory and clinical teams to keep supplies organized, stocked, and ready for upcoming cases. By maintaining strong control of supplies before, during, and after procedures, this role helps reduce interruptions, supports on-time starts, and improves overall OR flow.

This position requires strong organization, attention to detail, and collaborative communication, and it plays a vital role in creating a safer, more functional, and cost-effective operating room environment for patients, surgeons, and staff.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework in surgical technology, inventory management, or healthcare operations preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in surgical services, sterile processing, or central supply strongly preferred. Familiarity with BlueBin or similar two-bin inventory systems preferred.
