Staff Research Associate MED-CORE-HMON-ONCO-GEN Full Time 87639BR Job Summary This position is focused on research with biosamples from patients with multiple myeloma, to more deeply understand the biology of this disease and to develop more effective therapies. The research associate will be directly supervised by Dr. David Oh, who directs the UCSF Cancer Immunotherapy Laboratory which focuses on translational research at the intersection of immunology and oncology that seeks to understand mechanisms of response, resistance and toxicity with immune-based therapies; as well as Dr. Thomas Martin, clinical research director of Hematologic Malignancies at UCSF. In close collaboration with the UCSF Hematologic Malignancies Tissue Bank, the research associate will process samples from UCSF myeloma patients for downstream experimentation, and link these samples to additional relevant information that may be available. Additional responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments using human blood and tissue samples, in vitro culturing of human lymphocytes, functional experiments using cell culture protocols and flow cytometry techniques, data analysis, and minimal lab management. The associate may have the opportunity to contribute to publications, grants, and to present new findings at national scientific and clinical conferences. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $28.12 - $33.57 (Hourly Rate). Currently, the Division has 90 Full-time faculty, 11 part-time and/or volunteer faculty, 29 ACGME and non-ACGME fellows, 22 post- doctoral fellows, 32 Non-faculty appointments and 48 administrative and research staff. The Division's primary research, clinical and teaching functions are primarily split between the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses, although the faculty, fellows, and staff have appointments and clinical, research, and educational activities at ZSFG, and VAMC as well.
