Job Description:

Microchip has an opening for a Process Enhancement Specialist in their Colorado Springs Wafer Fabrication facility (Fab5). We are looking for specialists who have meaningful experience working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. As a PES, you will not only run production material, but you will train and learn technical tasks and skills from technicians and engineers.

Job Description

In addition to performing Specialist duties required to run production wafers and support production output in the Fab, the PES will train with Process and EES Technicians and Engineers to learn designated tasks defined in the PES Training Checklist and certify to be able to perform these engineering and maintenance tasks on a designated area's equipment sets.

Expectations of a PES:

  • Operates highly complex equipment, in a cleanroom environment needed for Wafer Fabrication.
  • Follows Microchip's Policies.
  • Adheres to cleanroom requirements.
  • Supports and acts as a role model for Microchip's Guiding Values and Culture and the First Principles defined in our Ethos.
  • Certified and operates multiple platforms of complex equipment
  • Receives direct instructions and follows prescribed procedure
  • Work is routinely reviewed
  • Activities are sometimes routine and may be repetitive

Train and certify to perform maintenance and engineering tasks in the Fab on equipment sets as defined by the area PES Training Checklist.

Examples of these tasks include:

  • Perform all necessary routine checks and qualifications on equipment
  • Perform tasks as directed by an engineer or technician
  • Initiate, perform, and implement corrective actions towards resolving process and equipment problems
  • Troubleshoot out of control tool issues
  • Complete OCAPs (Out of Control Action Plans)
  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and summarize data
  • Interface effectively with all departments to obtain coordination of efforts needed to accomplish priority tasks
  • Perform tool recoveries when errors occur on the equipment
  • Ensure accuracy and proper recovery of lots and wafers after tool errors occur
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness for special processing
  • Learn, understand, and apply knowledge and experience about semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Obtain expertise in area toolsets and processes and effectively train others to become experts

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Candidates for this position must be experienced and capable in the Fab production environment and demonstrate a history of commitment to the Guiding Values and First Principles of the Company.
  • Ability to learn and understand mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform multiple task while paying careful attention to detail and completing one thing at a time.
  • Prior success working individually and in a team environment
  • Consistent history of demonstrating Microchip's First Principles contained in our Ethos
  • Demonstration of ability to effectively prioritize and support multiple different demands throughout the scheduled work hours
  • Ability to follow direction (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed work specifications for each piece of equipment
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication
  • Good work history, dependable, personal attendance/punctuality
  • Personal availability to work compressed shift schedule
  • Quick adaptability to changes
  • Good computer, math and reading comprehension skills

The hourly pay range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $18-25/hr.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
