Job Summary

Responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and repair of various types of piping systems. Installs systems according to specifications and applicable trade and building codes. Systems may include piping, fittings, fixtures, and equipment supporting heating, cooling, gas, steam, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing operations.


Essential Duties

* Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, submerged arc, gas-shielded arc, MIG, and TIG welding machines.
* Selects type and size of pipe and materials based on job specifications, system operation, and building plans.
* Meets and maintains quality and production standards.
* Secures pipes using clamps, brackets, and hangers; uses hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers.
* Maintains a clean, orderly work area and follows all safety regulations (including support of 6S).
* Maintains required personal tools and properly uses PPE and safety equipment.
* Accurately records time spent on work orders.
* Communicates issues affecting production, schedule, or cost to the foreman or project personnel.
* Reports defective materials or questionable conditions.
* Notifies supervisor of equipment issues and performs operator-based maintenance as needed.


Minimum Requirements

* High School Diploma or GED (additional welding certifications a plus)
* Level II certification to weld black iron, stainless, and aluminum
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Journeyman Welder (4+ preferred)
* Experience using various welding equipment and procedures
* Experience with electrical and manual tools
* Ability to read/interpret technical documents and drawings
* Strong organization skills; ability to set priorities
* Knowledge of applicable safety standards
