DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment at the Southwestern Veterans' Center. Your work will involve repairing doors and furniture, operating power and hand tools, and installing electrical circuits. You will also repair and install plumbing fixtures, make repairs to heating lines, and perform masonry work in connection with buildings and walkways. In this position, you will make repairs to roofs and repair and paint surfaces. Some of your duties will include maintaining equipment and tools, performing minor repairs to wheelchairs and other assistance equipment, and replacing locks. Additionally, you will perform snow removal, help with groundskeeping and landscaping, and coordinate with staff on the use of contractors. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
- Experience in commercial and structural maintenance of buildings and equipment
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
