DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will have a diverse set of responsibilities. Your work will include assisting in fire prevention and suppression, patrolling for and investigating wildfires, and attending training courses to stay up-to-date on firefighting techniques. Additionally, you will serve as a fire tower lookout and operate firefighting vehicles such as fire engines and light trucks. You will also operate chainsaws, lawn mowers, brush saws, leaf blowers, and portable pumps. Furthermore, you will help with vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as perform tasks such as preparing and painting signs and maintaining facilities. Overall, your role will be crucial in protecting and maintaining the forests and the safety of those who use them.

- Seasonal, full-time employment with not health care benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. During spring fire season the work schedule will change to 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Overtime may be required during fire season and as operationally necessary
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
