Job Overview:

An internship at TBI gives qualified college and post-graduate students an inside look at TBI's critical mission and work across the state. While no guarantee of future employment, an internship with TBI offers students from a wide range of backgrounds a broad look at all it takes to fulfill our unique place in the state's criminal justice system.

The TBI Internship opportunity is a 10-week summer program, June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026.

Spend Your Summer Making an Impact with TBI's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Team
Gain a unique, hands-on perspective of the criminal justice system by contributing to a statewide effort that strengthens investigations and supports justice for victims. As the TBI SAKI intern, you'll play a key role in evaluating and closing gaps in Tennessee's DNA databases' critical for generating leads in criminal cases.

Working closely with the SAKI Census Lead, you'll analyze criminal justice data for accuracy and completeness while learning how processes in the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Forensic Services Division (FSD), and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) intersect to impact case outcomes.

This opportunity is ideal for problem-solvers who understand how small steps drive big results and enjoy collaborating across professional disciplines. Those best suited for the role have the ability to rapidly absorb new information, work comfortably at a computer for extended periods, and communicate challenges effectively.

Academic Year Preference:

Internships are open to college juniors, seniors, or those pursuing post-graduate education.
