About Lakewood Regional Support

Our regional support center provides resources to our hotels for multiple areas including Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Security, Group Reservations, Guest Contact Center, Information Technology, Laundry and Communications.

Purpose:

The Business Intelligence Specialist role provides operations and analytical support for Regional Executives and all properties at Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando. This role requires a high level of technical excel and data software expertise, attention to detail, the drive to acquire knowledge, and an adaptable perspective to collect, analyze, and present data. Exceptional communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives to aid business performance and strategic decision-making.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to effectively conduct research, compile statistical and narrative data, analyze and report trends, prepare reports, present findings to management/business partner upon which operational decisions may be made
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and comprehend operating budgets of varying complexity
  • Conducts research that identifies activities which may be counterproductive to achievement of operating goals and objectives
  • Identifies problems, researches alternatives, prepares presentations for multiple processes within multiple functions
  • Examines market transitions to identify changes in guest needs, the hotels guest mix and industry competitive set
  • Assists with special projects and studies, which are designed to assist upper level management in the decision making process
  • Fulfill ad hoc and recurring reporting requests as organizational data as subject matter expert, ad hoc requests will require diagnosing the request and identifying the appropriate data sources for Business Intelligence to fulfill those requests
  • The ability to use independent judgment in identifying root cause of problems, and developing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate to large scope and complexity
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with all departments
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Preferably 1-2 years' experience working in an analytical role or comparable education experience
  • Fluent with business tools like Microsoft Excel (navigating excel interface, advanced formulas, data imports, data blending, data mining, data entry, formatting, sorting and filtering data, pivot tables, charts, etc.), Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Preferred software experience with Power BI, Smartsheet, Opera Reservation System, Medallia, HotSOS/Amadeus Service Optimization, Call Management System, Workforce Management Software, Point of Sale software, Workday, and/or other software applicable to the hospitality industry.
  • Self-directed, innovative thinker with a strong attention to detail and the ability to synthesize, interpret, and translate data to guide strategic business decisions and big picture implications
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in order to present and define business and technical parameters and lead team to meet business requirements
  • Must have a good knowledge of business process and lifecycle management principles, theories and concepts, and a general understanding of industry practices, techniques, and standards
  • Understanding of relational databases and familiarity with statistical analysis
  • Proactive thinker that is prepared to seek out opportunities to improve systems, obtain data, enhance reports, and streamline department functions.
