Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Forge Shop Supervisor is responsible for directing all operations on shift within the Turbine Forge Department to meet daily targets for safety, quality, throughput, and cost. This role ensures adherence to engineering procedures, compliance with operating schedules, and maintains a safe and organized workplace conducive to efficient material flow for downstream operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Maintain Area Safety Requirements: Ensure compliance with safety, housekeeping, and 6S targets to foster a safe work environment.
* Lead the Hourly Workforce: Train and supervise employees to ensure procedural compliance, driving improvements in first-time yield and overall part quality.
* Coordinate On-Shift Activities: Monitor material verification, furnace loading, and downstream product movement to maintain material throughput and support downstream operations.
* Effective Communication: Liaise with other department leaders, including Engineering and Metallurgy, to ensure proper communication and maintain part quality.
* Monitor Daily Costs: Minimize daily costs, drive continuous improvement in forging processes, and reduce waste to meet variable cost targets.
* Review Process Paperwork: Verify adherence to job processes to maintain forge conformance.
* Ensuring compliance with PPE requirements and fostering a safe work environment.
* Managing daily operations and prioritizing tasks based on input from various departments.
* Driving procedural compliance and monitoring part quality for continuous improvement.
* Collaborating with the maintenance department to ensure equipment availability.
* Monitoring spending and minimizing waste to meet cost targets.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Strong leadership skills.
* Knowledge of industrial systems, plant equipment, and processes.
* Ability to read and understand blueprints.
* Proficiency in computer applications (Windows, Oracle, Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong technical skills in production operations and customer requirements.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION:
* College degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
* 3-5 years of experience in heavy industry manufacturing or similar.
* Supervisory experience within a union environment is advantageous.
* Excellent human relations skills with organizational and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to drive change and continuous improvement processes
WORK CONDITIONS:
* This position operates in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and other industrial conditions.
* Work involves both office and shop floor environments, requiring interaction with various levels of personnel and departments.
* Occasional travel may be required for training or coordination with external contractors and vendors.
* The role demands flexibility to work across multiple shifts and manage a dynamic work schedule.

Shifts - 1st 6am-2pm, 2nd shift 2pm-10pm, 3rd 10pm-6am
