OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Electric & Water Production division.

The OUC Internship Program is dedicated to providing students with real-world, hands-on experience by partnering with energy leaders and experienced professionals, while bringing new and out-of-the-box perspectives and ideas that are essential for fostering the creativity and growth of any business. OUC's internship program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of the utility industry through on-the-job training, educational sessions, self-paced learning courses, and individual or team projects.

We are looking for a Power Plant Engineering Intern. During this internship, you will partner with the Electric & Water Production Engineering team.

You will be involved in:

  • Assisting engineers with monitoring plant performance, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing operational reports.
  • Supporting maintenance activities, including preventative and corrective maintenance planning.
  • Reviewing, updating, and maintaining technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Learning and participating in start-up, shutdown, and load control procedures, while following plant safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Helping ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits, assisting with project coordination, and shadowing senior engineers and technicians.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Academic status of Junior or above.
  • Program of study: Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Previous internship experience preferred

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD preferred
  • Familiar with control systems and data historians
  • Basic understanding of motors, pumps, and measurements (temperature, pressure)
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive; able to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve issues under deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability to learn new skills quickly.

Compensation: $20 - $21 per hour, varies depending on the education level

Schedule: Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week) from May 18th, 2026 to August 14th, 2026 following an On-Site Schedule
