Wieland is hiring Engineering Interns. The internship program provides participants with hands-on experience in the Rapid Prototype Lab, offering exposure to cutting-edge technologies and processes such as 3D scanning, resin and FDM printing, sintering of metal-printed parts, reverse engineering, component design, 3D simulation, and CAD/CAM software for developing designs. This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Starting Pay: $15/hr

Schedule: 40 hours per week



Responsibilities

Engineering Intern Responsibilities:

Participation and Project Management in one or more projects listed:

* Casting simulations.
* Thermocouple integration for melt monitoring.
* Ultrasonic testing on cast shells.
* Melt transfer strategy development.
* SMED for casting frame change overs.
* Drone development for inspection, delivery system and confined spaces.
* Develop full-scale 3D printing production system.
* Process optimization of machines.
* Micro-cooling.
* Designing and developing holder for inline testing equipment for drawing machines.
* Reverse engineering of components.
* Development of measuring equipment for inline dimensional verification.
* Collaborating and working with other sister facilities for project developments.
* Optimizing work-order flow CNC and 3D units.
* Infrared scanning development for electrical inspection using drones.

Engineering Intern Qualifications:

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
* Experience with 3D printing, CAD, and technical drawings.
* Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
* Basic knowledge of tools and computer literacy.
* Energetic, creative, and comfortable presenting to large groups.
* Familiarity with drone development, including assembly, testing, troubleshooting, or flight operations.
* Foundational programming skills (e.g., Python, C++, or embedded systems) with an interest in automation or robotics.
* Hands-on experience or strong aptitude for new machine implementation, including setup, calibration, testing, and process optimization.
