Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Government Patrol in Birmingham, AL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government transit location, you will conduct routine patrols and remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will respond to calls for assistance, observe and report unusual activity, and support staff and riders with clear communication and strong customer service. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Perform armed patrol duties in accordance with Allied Universal policies, post orders, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of government transit facilities, platforms, parking areas, vehicle lanes, and perimeter points to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Control access at designated entry points, verify identification and/or credentials when required, and maintain visitor and contractor logs per site policy.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, radio traffic, and other security-related systems, and report unusual activity to site leadership and/or local authorities as directed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, trespassing, suspicious persons, and property damage.
  • Write detailed incident reports and shift logs, document observations, and preserve information and/or evidence in accordance with post orders.
  • Provide visible presence and customer assistance to employees and members of the public, including giving directions and supporting orderly operations at the location.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency services, and site management during incidents, following established communication and escalation procedures.
  • Conduct bag or package screening and/or vehicle checks when directed by post orders, using approved search procedures and maintaining professional interactions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit.
  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR Certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Handcuffing Certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
