Job Description




As a Security Officer - Logistics Patrol in Cherry Valley, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will conduct routine foot patrols, remain visible to help deter security-related incidents, and support daily operations through clear communication and outstanding customer service. You will document observations, respond to concerns, and work closely with onsite teams. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the logistics and distribution location, including the yard, trailer areas, docks, warehouses, and perimeter; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound truck traffic and employee and visitor movement, helping to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Control access at gates and/or entrances by checking identification, verifying appointments and/or shipping documentation, and directing drivers and visitors to the proper location.
  • Complete routine patrol and incident reports, noting unusual activity, damaged doors or fences, open bays, and other conditions requiring follow-up.
  • Observe and report hazards such as spills, blocked aisles, and unsecured loads to site leadership for corrective action.
  • Support emergency procedures such as fire alarms, severe weather, medical events, and evacuation activities as directed by location-specific policy.
  • Use radio, phone, and/or computer systems to communicate with site personnel and Allied Universal supervision, escalating issues when needed.
  • Assist with enforcement of location rules related to parking, speed limits, no-smoking zones, and restricted areas, helping to deter policy violations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
