Job Description




As a Security Officer - Part-Time Utility Reception in Gahanna, OH, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As a Front Desk Security Officer at a major utilities location, you will welcome employees and visitors, manage check-in and badges, monitor cameras and alarms, and document security-related activity with clear communication. You will be a visible, professional presence who helps support smooth daily operations through customer service, attention to detail, and prompt escalation of concerns. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to guests, employees, contractors, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Staff the front desk and lobby area, greeting visitors, answering questions, and directing individuals to appropriate locations based on site procedures.
  • Manage access control by verifying identification, issuing temporary badges, and maintaining visitor and contractor logs in accordance with site requirements.
  • Monitor cameras, alarm panels, intercoms, and/or other security-related systems from the front desk and report irregular activity per post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site contacts and/or public responders when required.
  • Operate phones, radios, and/or dispatch channels to relay information, document requests, and support coordination during routine operations and incident response.
  • Complete detailed reports and shift logs, including incident documentation, access control activity, and policy exceptions, and submit them per site requirements.
  • Support a professional location environment by enforcing lobby and reception procedures, including prohibited items screening requirements when assigned, and addressing policy violations in a courteous manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proof of a high school diploma and/or GED is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
