Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed - Petro Site in Michigan City, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support onsite teams with clear communication and customer service. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver's license under AU Driver Policy Requirements. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a chemical and/or petrochemical location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including spills, odors, alarms, and other unusual conditions, and notify appropriate site contacts and/or public responders per post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of production areas, tank and pipe corridors, docks, parking areas, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify hazards or abnormal conditions.
  • Control access at gates and/or entry points by verifying credentials, logging arrivals and departures, issuing visitor directions, and following site rules for contractors and deliveries.
  • Monitor cameras, intrusion and/or fire panels, radios, and telephones, and communicate status updates and incident information to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives.
  • Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and shift handoff briefings with accurate details and clear timelines.
  • Support site emergency procedures by assisting with evacuations, accountability checkpoints, traffic control, and perimeter control as directed by site leadership.
  • Observe and report damaged equipment, open gates, unsecured doors, and/or suspicious behavior, and submit maintenance and/or service requests through approved channels.
  • Enforce site rules in a respectful manner, including restricted-area controls, parking compliance, and visitor conduct expectations.
  • Operate in varied outdoor and indoor environments, including rotating patrol routes, uneven terrain, and changing weather conditions, while maintaining professional customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proof of high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
