Job Description




As a Security Officer - Art Gallery Patrol in Columbus, OH, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a high-traffic cultural location, you will monitor and patrol walkways, entrances, and gathering areas to help reduce security-related issues. You will stay visible, conduct routine patrols, report concerns clearly, and assist guests with directions and questions. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to guests, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a public cultural location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, requesting assistance from public services and/or site leadership as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of grounds, walkways, gathering areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor entrances, event areas, and high-traffic spaces to help to maintain orderly access, assist with directions, and address guest concerns.
  • Observe for suspicious activity, unattended items, hazards, and/or damage to property, and report findings per post orders.
  • Complete detailed shift documentation, including incident reports, patrol logs, and/or visitor interaction notes, using approved reporting systems.
  • Support crowd management during scheduled programs and special events, including line control, re-routing foot traffic, and/or responding to disturbances.
  • Coordinate with site representatives and Allied Universal leadership regarding changing conditions, scheduled activities, and/or special instructions for the post.
  • Perform access control as assigned, including checking credentials, managing deliveries, and/or confirming authorization for restricted areas.
  • Operate designated communication equipment to maintain situational awareness and relay information to teammates and supervisors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
