Job Description: Core Skill Areas Tax Workflow & Problem Understanding Foundational understanding of tax or accounting workflows, or strong analytical capability from a data science background, with the ability to quickly learn tax processes through structured engagement with SMEs. Able to follow tax logic, ask intelligent clarifying questions, and identify workflow gaps or ambiguities, while relying on SMEs for tax correctness and risk decisions. Applied AI & Tool Usage Hands-on experience using ChatGPT or similar enterprise-grade AI tools to support structured knowledge work and workflow acceleration. Comfortable applying defined prompting standards, templates, and guardrails in build and testing contexts rather than ad hoc experimentation. Requirements & Documentation Ability to document user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, and process flows based on SME input and product guidance. Capable of translating partially defined needs into clear, reviewable delivery artifacts. Build & Configuration Support Experience supporting the configuration, assembly, or refinement of AI-enabled workflows and tools (e.g., enterprise ChatGPT environments, Alteryx, or proprietary platforms) within established governance, risk, and quality standards. Testing & Quality Discipline Strong attention to detail in executing test cases, documenting results, logging defects, and capturing structured feedback. Able to validate outcomes against defined acceptance criteria and support iterative improvement cycles. Professional Communication Clear written communication skills for drafting internal documentation, test summaries, feedback logs, and supporting materials for broader communications or thought leadership, without owning final approval or delivery. Responsibilities Requirements & Workflow Translation Support tax SMEs and product owners by documenting workflows, user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria for AI-enabled solutions. Maintain organized documentation and backlog artifacts that support build, testing, and prioritization activities. Build & Co-Development Support Assist in building, configuring, and refining AI-enabled workflows and tools within approved enterprise technology environments. Help convert exploratory or one-off work into structured, reusable assets such as templates, prompts, or documented procedures. Validate that build outputs align with documented requirements and constraints. Testing, QA, and Iteration Execute user acceptance testing activities, including running test cases, capturing outcomes, and documenting issues. Log defects and enhancement requests with clear reproduction steps and sufficient context for prioritization. Re-test fixes and enhancements to confirm expected behavior prior to broader release. Documentation & Communications Support Draft internal documentation, summaries, and inputs that support user guidance, release notes, and practice-facing thought leadership. Support communications and change materials without leading trainings or office hours. Stakeholders & Collaboration The intern works closely with: * Tax practitioners and SMEs (workflow context, validation, feedback) * Product and technology teams (requirements clarification, build support, testing) * Enablement and leadership stakeholders (documentation and communication inputs) * Risk, compliance, and security partners (adherence to approved tools and responsible use standards) Basic Qualifications Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Data Science, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to learn and follow tax workflows and engage productively with tax SMEs. Hands-on experience using ChatGPT or similar AI tools in structured, repeatable use cases. Strong organizational discipline, attention to detail, and comfort working in documented delivery processes. Clear written communication skills suitable for requirements documentation, testing artifacts, and internal materials. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to workflow automation or analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx or similar platforms). Introductory experience with Python or scripting for automation, analysis, or document processing. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, including exposure to AI services. Experience working in agile or iterative delivery environments, including user stories and backlog tools (e.g., Azure DevOps). The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $27.00 - $42.00 per hour.
