Job Summary

This position supports the installation, decommissioning, and maintenance of network and cabling infrastructure within data center environments. The role requires a motivated, detail-oriented professional who can work independently, accept accountability for work performed, and collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to support mid-size projects and service activities.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install and decommission network and cabling infrastructure in data center environments.



  • Deliver repeatable, sustainable solutions with a focus on continuous improvement.



  • Read, interpret, and execute work based on blueprints, floor plans, and design documentation, including redlines.



  • Install, route, dress, and terminate copper and fiber cabling.



  • Perform copper and fiber testing, troubleshooting, and validation using approved tools.



  • Decommission fiber trunks, jumpers, and associated cabling infrastructure.



  • Perform fiber splicing, including single-mode and multi-mode for OSP and ISP applications.



  • Troubleshoot fiber circuits using OLTS and OTDR testing equipment.



  • Patch and connect network equipment and extend analog, DSL, and T1 connections as required.



  • Conduct and support service swaps of live networking devices.



  • Maintain clean, organized work areas in compliance with data center standards.



  • Provide structured progress updates and feedback to stakeholders.



  • Maintain accurate documentation and orderly project and service records.



  • Collaborate with project teams and assist with directing or supervising task execution when required.



  • Follow all safety, production, quality standards, codes, and industry best practices.




Job Requirements




  • Proficiency with basic telecommunications and low-voltage hand tools.



  • Ability to pull, route, dress, and terminate all types of low-voltage cabling.



  • Knowledge of wiring schemes, cabling standards, and testing methodologies.



  • Experience laying out MDF and IDF closets and performing all types of terminations.



  • Understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.



  • Ability to perform multiple-pair copper splicing.



  • Experience working with analog lines, DSL, and extending T1 connections.



  • Ability to patch and support network equipment.



  • Capability to work effectively in active data center environments.



  • Strong understanding of job safety requirements and customer service principles.



  • Ability to maintain organized documentation and manage mid-size projects and service jobs.



  • Willingness to accept responsibility for the quality and outcomes of work performed.



  • Ability to follow infrastructure design specifications and installation standards.




Education




  • High school diploma or equivalent required.



  • Technical training in structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center infrastructure preferred.




Work Experience




  • Prior experience in data center cabling, low-voltage installation, or telecommunications environments preferred.
