Department Required Skills

  • Doctorate/PhD in Healthcare Management, Public Health, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the university level, with experience in online and hybrid course formats
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications or presentations at professional conferences
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment


Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Relevant professional experience in healthcare management or a related field
  • Experience with innovative teaching practices and technology-enhanced learning
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment processes
  • Involvement in professional organizations related to healthcare management or education

The Department of Healthcare Management at Winston-Salem State University seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Instructor in Healthcare Management. This position involves a focus on teaching, advising, and engagement with a commitment to fostering student success in a dynamic educational environment.

Teaching:



  • Teach undergraduate courses in healthcare management, policy, and related fields, employing effective teaching methodologies.
  • Develop and enhance course materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure relevance and rigor.
  • Incorporate experiential learning opportunities, such as case studies, simulations, and guest speakers from the industry.


Advising:



  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students, guiding them in their educational and career aspirations.
  • Assist students in identifying internship opportunities and career pathways in healthcare management.
  • Support student engagement in departmental activities and organizations.

Scholarship:



  • Engage in professional development to stay current in the field of healthcare management and improve teaching practices.
  • Contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning, including attending workshops and conferences.
  • Encourage and support undergraduate student research and projects.

Engagement:



  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and service initiatives.
