Overview
Egan Company is seeking a Business Group Manager to lead our Building Automation team in Champlin, MN. In this critical leadership role, you'll strategically lead and oversee all aspects of the business group, including safety, employee engagement, customer experience, market share development, growth strategies, business plans, group performance, and continued process improvement.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Business Group Manager include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage, develop, and work closely with a team of direct reports, and foster a high-performing group leadership team. Promote a positive safety culture and ensure accountability to safety expectations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior/executive level customers and project partners; regularly check-in (i.e. in-person visits, lunch) with customers and project partners. Champion Egan's Mission, Vision, and Values, as well as strategic direction; lead by example. Drive a top-notch employee and customer experience. Seek out and act on opportunities for improvement; instill an innovative mindset within the group and effectively lead and manage change. Provide opportunities to learn and grow within the group; support training efforts and programs for office and field employees; actively mentor, coach, and develop direct reports. Follow Egan's employee review process for goal setting, mid-year check-ins, and annual employee reviews to provide direction, priorities, and actionable feedback. Oversee project performance by monitoring key metrics and ensuring supervisors hold effective monthly status reviews with project managers, with a focus on forecasting, safety, profitability, and accountability. Create and execute the Annual Operating Plan. Manage group P&L and budget and participate in monthly financial review meetings. Stay in tune with the latest industry trends, trade updates, means and methods, etc. and participate in industry/trade organizations and events. Partner with the Marketing Team to shape and execute market strategies, new business development, and customer engagement plans that support the group's growth objectives. Partner closely with internal support groups including Finance, HR, Safety, IT, Operations, and Marketing to ensure the Building Automation group is aligned with company standards, systems, and strategic priorities. Visit project sites and customer sites regularly.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered. 10+ years of automation experience. 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading a business unit, department, or functional group with responsibility for financial performance, forecasting, and budget management. Experience building and executing growth strategies, including customer development, market expansion, or service offering enhancement. Track record of developing leaders and succession within a technical or project-based environment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Willingness to travel occasionally.

A demonstrable and consistent record of achieving results. Strong communication skills, ability to navigate and resolve conflict effectively; ability to grow long-term relationships. Ability to lead teams, communicate priorities effectively, and drive projects forward. Proven ability to develop and motivate a team; strong leadership skills; interpersonal skills; ability to motivate direct and indirect staff. Familiarity with building automation products (e.g., Belimo, Schneider Electric, ABB) is preferred. Proficient understanding of project and financial management. Reputation as a team-oriented and collaborative leader. Outstanding negotiation abilities and interpersonal skills with customers, suppliers, and partners.

Salary Range: $124,820.66- $158,398.92 (subject to such factors as experience, education, and/or skill set) plus potential annual discretionary bonus. Position is eligible for an auto allowance and gas card.
