Landscaper II Requisition ID: 2026-9791 # of Openings: 1 Location: US-UT-Blanding Category: Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance Position Type: Benefited Full-Time Job Classification: Non-Exempt College: Statewide Campuses-Residential Department: SW Campuses RES-Blanding Advertised Salary: Commensurate with experience Overview Incumbents in the Landscaper series install, repair, and maintain the landscaping and grounds on the USU campus, including snow removal. They also assist in maintenance and cleaning of campus facilities as well as event services. Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities: The Landscaper II reports to the Grounds Supervisor. This classification may train and guide students and/or hourly employees. Responsibilities Plants and maintains trees, shrubs, flower beds, etc. Applies pesticides to rid grounds of pests, such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others. Applies fertilizers. Prunes trees, trims shrubs, and pulls weeds. Rakes and mulches the grounds as needed. Mows and trims lawns. Removes snow from sidewalks and doorways. Responds to on-call situations for snow removal and landscape emergencies, reporting within 30 minutes of being contacted. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Performs campus maintenance as assigned. Helps Clean and maintain campus facilities. Set up and take down events. Transport materials and equipment in university vehicles. Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience or an associate degree/technical training in a related field is required. Valid Utah driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of applicable safety procedures. Knowledge of propagation methods, chemical applications, insect/disease control, plant nutrition, and pruning methods. Skilled in operating snow removal equipment. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. Records maintenance skills. Knowledge of various flowers and plants. Knowledge of plants, landscape use, and cultural requirements. Ability to diagnose plant conditions and cultural needs and recommend treatment for problems. Knowledge of pesticides. Knowledge of irrigation equipment and methods. Knowledge of soil types, slope, and drainage. Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
