Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Policy & Government Affairs Manager who will serve as the authoritative architect and strategic vanguard of the organization's regulatory and legislative ecosystem. This role is a high-autonomy leadership position designed to architect a global policy strategy in direct partnership with Revenue Generation and Strategic Communications, ensuring a landscape that accelerates the adoption of telematics and AI innovation while proactively mitigating global regulatory risk. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader - we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Senior Policy & Government Affairs Manager, your key area of responsibility will be architecting global policy strategy, certifying the regulatory integrity of National Security Solutions (NSS), and acting as the primary strategic counselor to the executive suite to protect our "License to Operate." You will be responsible for synthesizing complex technical domains -including AI, V2X communications, and high-stakes FAR/DFAR compliance- into actionable business intelligence. You will need to work closely with Geotab's Legal, Revenue, and Strategic Communications executives, as well as Product and Engineering teams and external government officials

To be successful in this role, you will be a high-autonomy leader and cross-functional diplomat with an entrepreneurial, self-starting approach to leadership. In addition, the successful candidate will have mastery of the legislative and executive rulemaking process, expert-level familiarity with the FAR/DFAR ecosystem, and the ability to distill hyper-technical telematics data into high-stakes briefings. You will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure the organization actively shapes the standards of data residency and encryption.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Spearhead the development and execution of a comprehensive legislative roadmap to promote Geotab's strategic goals while aggressively engaging internal and external stakeholders to remove or mitigate threats (e.g., restrictive data-access and privacy blockers).

  • Command the organization's presence before US Federal and State legislatures, state DOTs, DMVs, and law enforcement agencies, and leverage positions in aligned trade associations to ensure the company's technical and business interests are prioritized.

  • Aid Global Compliance in their administration of internal-facing policies relating to government interactions, gratuities, and advocacy.

  • Lead the transformation of the Government Affairs function into an AI-first department where AI Skills perform all technically feasible functions (e.g., tracking laws and regulations, analyzing and predicting regulatory developments, drafting US agency RFI comments).

  • Establish rigorous protocols for verifying and validating AI-generated outputs, ensuring the quality and technical accuracy of all work produced via automated tools.

  • Synchronize US-based legislative strategies with global headquarters' standards (e.g. GDPR, and ESG goals) to promote a unified corporate posture across international borders.

  • Collaborate with the National Security Solutions (NSS) Mission Leader to serve as a strategic advisor within Product and Engineering teams.

  • Navigate the friction between innovation and regulation by providing definitive guidance on state-level requirements (e.g., biometric laws, GPS tracking limitations, and data residency requirements) to promote product-market fit.

  • Drive the strategic success of NSS and government fleet contracts by designing and promoting technical alignment with US Federal requirements (e.g., FAR/DFAR, encryption standards, and satellite communications mandates).

  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate administrative rulemaking processes and proactively mitigate supply chain dependencies and supply-chain regulatory risks.

  • Lead high-stakes collaborations with Legal, Revenue, and Strategic Communications executives to provide real-time regulatory expertise.

  • Design sophisticated communication strategies that bolster the company's reputation among US Congressional, State, and local decision-makers to promote our competitive advantage.

  • Oversee the partnership with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to lobbying disclosure and "gift and honoraria" rules; mitigate the legal risks associated with field-team activities, promoting compliant interaction with public officials.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • 8- 10 years of experience leading government affairs and regulatory policy within a large-scale Telematics, Automotive Tech, or SaaS organization.

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Communications, or a related field (required); Juris Doctor or Masters in Data Science, Law, or Policy (highly preferred).

  • Deep, working knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and EU legal and regulatory processes, specifically the nuances of administrative rulemaking.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineers to translate complex hardware/software specifications into persuasive policy narratives and handle frameworks like NIST/FedRAMP.

  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to distill hyper-technical data for senior briefings and formal regulatory comments.

  • Proficiency in using AI tools for policy monitoring and leveraging data analytics (Excel/Google Sheets) to forecast legislative risks.

  • Demonstrated success in authoring in-house compliance policies regarding lobbying disclosures and political activity guidelines.

  • Ability to travel internationally (approximately 10%) as required.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
