WHERE YOU WILL WORK: The Augusta Mill sits along the Savannah River, on the state border between Georgia and South Carolina and manufactures light, medium, and heavy weight coated paperboard. It is a well-invested SBS paperboard manufacturing facility with approximately 600 thousand tons of capacity. This facility boasts over 700 employees and has been in operation for almost 65 years. Located on 3,000 acres, the Augusta site operates two paper machines that produce 1,940 tons per day. The Augusta Mill is Clearwater Paper's largest paperboard facility and critical to the success of our strategy and future. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Process Control Systems and Performance Integrity
- Responsible for leading significant process control related obsolescence projects
- Be involved in the controls design, implementation, and support of hardware and software systems for mill process equipment i.e. Provox and Delta V DCS/QCS systems and various PLCs and drives.
- Design, construct, and implement process control strategies. Maintain functional design specifications for process control systems.
- Support the Reliability/Maintenance team in troubleshooting and optimization of all PLC systems in the mill.
- Support process operations by troubleshooting current systems to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Effectively communicate with the operations and maintenance organizations regarding projects and potential impacts.
- Partner with corporate and local capital teams in implementing new equipment to ensure effective and efficient startup.
- Participate in the mill safety program by actively engaging in Crew Led Safety initiatives.
- Backup DCS database and verify restore.
Training:
- Determine and attend relevant training to advance personal knowledge in subject areas to benefit process control and optimization.
- Determine training needs and coordinate training classes for employees working with the DCS and PLC Systems.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or electrical engineering, EET or a related engineering field preferred
- 5+ years of relevant process control systems experience required (DCS/PLC)
- Experience with Provox and DeltaV DCS Platforms
- 5+ years of operational experience (preferred Pulp and Paper Industry)
- Experience with control system network topology
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with vendors, managers, and production employees to achieve goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be capable of understanding and troubleshooting complex industrial systems and equipment.
- Understanding of LEAN manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) concepts preferred.
Other Key Job Requirements
- Able to work in a high-speed manufacturing environment, sustained exposure to high-frequency noises, multiple hours standing, walking on concrete surfaces, heat, and cold and mill environments.
- Able to wear and abide by Personal Protective Equipment that is required in the mill environment.
- Able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding.
- Could be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
- Rotating On-Call Weekend Duty
