designs high-scale automation frameworks, and ensures product reliability. You don't just find bottlenecks-you prevent them through architectural influence, database tuning, and expert root cause analysis

Role:

  • Lead performance efforts for multi-team projects. Design traffic models, establish scale goals, and implement sophisticated automation and monitoring strategies.
  • Act as the expert in database tuning and system optimizations. Drive design meetings by questioning implementation choices and proposing performant alternatives.
  • Rapidly build POCs to test ideas. Lead research spikes and "fail fast" prototypes to address critical scale issues.
  • Partner with Product Managers to align features with customer usage patterns. Ensure performance is a core part of the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • The Multiplier Effect: Coach AMTS, MTS, and SMTS engineers. Lead code and design reviews, sharing deep product expertise to elevate the team's technical bar.
  • Manage features from initial design through production deployment and post-release support. Own the resolution of the most complex, systemic performance issues.

Requirements:

  • Regular use of AI tools for automation and performance work.
  • A good understanding of enterprise architecture principles is strongly preferred
  • Experience as a developer building platforms and applications.
  • Experience in building automation tools.
  • Coding experience in Java, C, Python, Ruby on Rails and knowledge of modular design.
  • Deep knowledge of Java and its internals, including JVM performance tuning, GC mechanisms, and familiarity with Java Profiling (e.g., JProfiler, YourKit).
  • Expert-level understanding of key performance metrics associated with throughput, latency, memory, CPU, disk & network, and the ability to debug bottlenecks associated with any of them.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL data stores and transport systems such as Spark, Storm, Cassandra, Kafka is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in open source load test tools.
  • Expert in profiling, instrumentation, load generation tools, and database optimization.

The typical base salary range for this position is $172,500 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $207,800 - $285,800 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
